Summer Ollee-day Pack

July 9, 2021 by admin

The summer holidays are just around the corner, and children will be looking forward to some well-deserved time off! However, holidays can bring with them their own challenges for children – from fears that they’re missing out on fun with their friends, to worries about starting a new school in September.

Ollee, a virtual friend developed by Parent Zone and funded by BBC Children in Need’s A Million & Me, is designed to help parents and children talk about difficult topics, and empower parents to give their children the support they need.

The Go Well Heart Project

April 21, 2021 by admin

Children from West Cornforth Primary school have received their free Go Well Heart Project resources. The Go Well Heart Project is a ran by Go Well HQ (Sedgefield SSP), and it provides 30 activity bags and workbooks to every school in the Sedgefield district, with the aim of increasing activity levels within children when they are not at school.

At West Cornforth Primary School, we have decided to try and have an impact on as many children as possible with these bags. Therefore, we have selected children with siblings also in the school to be the first to receive the bags, so that as many children as possible are being active outside of school. Our total number of children benefiting from the bags will be 61, which is an increase on the 30 bags we were given.

This year it has been incredibly difficult to exercise due to national lockdowns and restrictions. Latest statistics show that 2.3 million children are now classified as inactive. This project aims to help change habits and activity levels that may have dropped due to the pandemic over the last 12 months.
