Further Information (Breakfast Club/Online Learning)
Breakfast Club and Drop-In will be open for key worker children and vulnerable children, as normal, and children should continue to wear school uniform.
School is already fully prepared for online learning, and you will receive your child’s login tomorrow morning (4th January), if you haven’t already. However, if you have not yet given consent for your child to access Office 365 (for live lessons/pre-recorded teaching videos), then they will not have been issued with a login. If your child is unable to access online learning, there is a paper-based option available for each class.
Information Regarding School Reopening (4th Jan)
Early School Closure
Dear Parents/Carers,
Following the government end of term advice for schools (received today 8 Dec) we are changing an INSET day, making Friday 18 December a non-teaching day and using the day for staff training.
It has been recommended that all schools ensure staff, parents and carers are aware of the following information and relevant arrangements regarding positive cases in the holidays:
- Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted. Parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.
- For the first 6 days after teaching ends, if a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, the school is asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school.
- School staff are not asked to remain on-call or conduct any contact tracing more than 6 days after the final day of teaching. Where a schools last teaching day is on Thursday 17th December, there should be no pupil contact tracing asks beyond Wednesday 23 December.
Thank you for your continued support this term. School will reopen Monday January 4th.
On behalf of the staff and governors, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Elf Day!
Kitchen staff decorated the serving area for some festive fun on Elf Day! The children enjoyed themselves, and laughed about the marvellous mischief that the elves had caused over lunchtime. Thank you to parents/carers for the kind donations to support the Alzheimer’s Society.
Christmas Performances
As we approach the Christmas holidays, we look forward to sharing class performances with parents before the end of term. We will be streaming video recordings via Microsoft Teams this year. Instructions will be emailed closer to the time; your child’s class teacher will also inform you of the date and time of the performance. We are unable to put the video on the website due to a range of restrictions that are in place. All you require is a device to attend the performance, such as a smartphone, iPad, tablet or laptop.

Lockdown Poem
One of our Year 5 children has written a fantastic poem called ‘Lockdown’. The vocabulary used in this poem is very powerful, and I think it is something that we can all relate to in some way. Well done on this creative and well crafted piece of homework!

Fundraising for Stray Aid
We have been fundraising this week for @StrayAidDogs. This event was organised by one of our Year 6 children, and all of the children from @westcornforthps had lots of fun baking, and buying, biscuits and cakes for a great cause! Thank you to all of the parents, carers and children who donated money to the chosen charity, we managed to raise £120 for Stray Aid.
