We have celebrated cultural diversity this week using lots of different kinds of Art. Liz Million, an artist, author and illustrator, worked with all of the classes in school and created some amazing sketches and drawings. The teachers planned lots of different art activities for the children to try. The week finished with a celebration of Arts Week with an open afternoon for all family members to come and look at what their children had achieved.

On 27th September 2014 West Cornforth Primary School will be holding an open day to celebrate almost 100 years of it being open. After almost 98 years of teaching and learning in the old school we will be moving into the new school building in the October half term 2014. The Open Day will also coincide with the 100 year anniversary of World War 1 and we are being supported by Cornforth History and Beamish Museum. It will run from 10am until 3pm and everyone is welcome. Please find more details below.

Alan Hodgson from Doggie Bulldogs visited the school on Friday 30th January to present a cheque to the school for a whopping £1000! They raised the money by having a tug of war and tombola. The money will go to the PE department where it will be put to good use, with Mr Hamblin already mentioning a new football strip and gymnastic equipment as top priorities.
