Today we gave out over 100 attendance awards to our children. Some for excellent attendance above our target of 97%, some for children who have significantly improved their attendance this year and some very special ones for our 100% Club.
Well done to all of these children.
We hope to give out even more next year.
It’s never too late to improve your attendance as every day in school counts. 
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for this academic year. We are very proud of all of our children and staff for their dedication to all aspects of school sport and pleased that all the hard work of everyone has been rewarded again this year.
This week we had two days of sporting fun and exercise from Pirate Rob . We had a hula-hooping day and then a Battle PT Day with lots of exercise, fun, games, laughter and some wet children and staff. The children loved it. A great way to get moving, get the heart racing and have some fun!
A brilliant afternoon of musical entertainment from the Rajasthan Heritage Band as part of Durham Big Brass Bash. The children danced, sang and enjoyed some wonderful music. The band and organisers commented on how fantastic our children were and so wonderfully behaved. What a way to end the week! #rajasthanheritageband #durhambigbrassbash
What a great afternoon! Thank you to everyone who was able to come to our Family Fun Day and a special thank you to Cornforth Partnership for providing the bouncy castles and supporting this great family event. Also thank you to the children and staff for their hard work setting up and organising things. We hope you all enjoyed it!
Across the school, pupils’ English lessons are currently based on ‘The Snowman’, by Raymond Briggs. Due to the heavy snowfall, pupils in Class 6 made their very own snowman. In their English lesson, they then had to write a set of instructions, using the subjunctive voice, to explain how to build a perfect snowman. They then made their instructions into an iMovie.
Wednesday 6th December, Class 6, along with the rest of the school, participated in a ‘Turkey Trot’ with Rob Proud. The school made a donation to a local charity, the Angel Trust, due to the pupils’ participation. The event involved a fitness instructor, Rob Proud, dressed as a turkey, and pupils, also dressed in turkey headdresses, to complete a variety of fitness dances. A great time was had by all.
After working so hard during lunchtimes this half term, show day was finally here! The KS2 Christmas choir performed beautifully this afternoon, getting every song, every dance, and every shake of a maraca or tambourine absolutely perfect! Well done, West Cornforth Choir!
We are delighted to have been awarded a generous donation from the Parish Council to pay for a new sandpit on our yard to improve our play offer for key stages 1 and 2. This donation will also pay for some raise beds for our nursery garden. Thank you so much to the Parish Council.
Wednesday 6th December, we celebrated Elf Day to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s Society.
