Since graduating from Newcastle University, I have been a teacher for over thirty years and have worked across a range of schools and educational environments. I have worked as an advisor for primary and secondary science and was a deputy headteacher in two schools, before returning to classroom teaching after having my own children.
I have worked at West Cornforth Primary School for twelve years and very much enjoy both the challenges, and rewards, of teaching there. The school is a warm, friendly environment which ensures that all children and staff reach their full potential. Each child is an individual, and extra-curricular activities are an integral part of what ensures that our school day is varied and interesting for all of us involved with the school.
As English lead in school, I have an overview of developments across the whole age range. I can bring this wider perspective into my role as teacher governor.
