Governor – Mr Ian Machin

I have lived, with my wife, in Spennymoor all my life.  We have a daughter who is an Educational Psychologist and a son who is a Teacher. I have a Maths degree ( 1st ), an MBA and I am an accountant by profession. I had many roles in finance, sales, purchasing, product development / management and project management before becoming Financial Controller for an ICI business.  When this business was sold to a US company, I led their global business transformation project before becoming IT Director, still based in Teesside.  I worked in London for 4 years, in the United States, Asia Pacific and many European countries.

I retired in 2014 to help my wife care for her 90-year-old father and look after our then 1 year old twin grandchildren.

In addition to West Cornforth Primary School since 2017, I volunteer for Kynren, Bishop Auckland, for the Princes Trust helping Young People, 18-30, into work, volunteering, education and training.  I am also a Pension Fund Trustee, and I am Treasurer for the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Trust in Spennymoor.

I served as a Spennymoor Town Councillor from 2017-21 and was Town Mayor in 2017-18.
